The Beginning of my Cancer Journey, and the beginning of Considerate Care Caps
Posted by Dionne Sandiford on
March of 2024, just a few days prior to my birthday, I was told I have cancer. There was a thumb in my stomach. Up until that moment, I just knew that the lump I was feeling was a hematoma from a car accident I had prior that did not go away.
I was going to the doctor dealing with my car accident injuries and when I mentioned to her that "this thing" I was feeling was starting to hurt. The doctor said a hematoma does not usually hurt and recommended that I have a mammogram since I was way overdue for one.
At the exam, the tech made a comment about what she was seeing on the screen and usually they are really cool and professional and make no remarks. She was very professional but when she made the comment, I quickly cut her off and said "It is just going to be a hematoma." Hey I journal for manifestation and just knew I could write my story. WRONG!
I was sent for another test and this time the tech said "I have to get the doctor - Will be right back." When the doctor walked in I took one look at her face and said, "I guess this ain't no hematoma in my best of English." She confirmed that it was indeed the big "C" word.
OK, so how did I go from being diagnosed with Advanced Stage Breast Cancer to selling chemo caps? Join me as I share my journey with you.
Some of you who are reading this know me and know how private I am and know how hard this is for me. After many months of therapy both physical and mental, it was recommended that I tell others about my journey because it will help someone else. I hope it does.
