Frequently Asked Questions
How do I prepare my shirts or other clothing for a T-Shirt Quilt, Custom Quilt, Quillow, or Memory Bear?
Your T-shirts should be laundered and in good condition - stains or discolorations will show up on your quilt. Please do not use fabric softener or dryer sheets. A $5.00 wash charge will be applied if you are not sure if softener was used.
Do I cut my shirts before sending to you?
Please don’t! We like to have the uncut shirts to give us maximum flexibility in how we use them in your quilt. Simply wash your shirts (no fabric softener or dryer sheets please) prior to sending to us.
To indicate which side of a shirt to use, you can either pin a note to the shirt, or an easier way is to bundle the shirts together by which side you would like used and put them in separate bags, one for "front side only", "back only" or "both sides."
Do I get my shirts back?
We will return any whole T-shirts that cannot be used. Remnants will not be returned.
How do I send you my shirts?
If in the Upstate SC area, we can arrange local pickup of your shirts. Otherwise, ship by trackable method of your choice – FedEx, UPS, or USPS.
Do you work with more than just T-shirts?
Our custom quilts can use a wide variety of clothing and fabric. For our T-shirt quilts, we can generally also use sweatshirts, hoodies, and jerseys. If you’d like to include other clothing, contact us and we’ll see if we can make it work.
When will I receive my quilt?
It varies. For the most part, it’s 8 weeks, depending on how many quilts we’re currently constructing. Closer to the holidays, it can take longer, so please plan ahead!
Can I choose which shirt goes where on the quilt?
If that is your preference, then absolutely. We usually base the layout on the colors of the shirts, to have a balanced design and not jarring groupings of color or oversaturation of one color. But if you have a preference we can lay them out however you like.
Is my quilt washable?
Absolutely! After all, they’re made of t-shirts and other clothing that’s washed regularly.
